South America: Intense water deficits in C Brazil, Peru, Chile

The forecast through July indicates widespread water deficits across central Brazil, exceptional in Tocantins, Mato Grosso, Goiás, and the Paraná River. Deficits are also expected in central Peru and much of Chile. Surpluses are forecast in the northwestern Amazon Basin.

South America: Intense water deficits to persist in French Guiana

The forecast through October indicates widespread water deficits reaching exceptional intensity in Peru, northern Chile, the eastern and southern Amazon Basin, and French Guiana. Intense deficits are also forecast on the Paraguay River. Surpluses will shrink in eastern Brazil.
