The forecast through October for Canada’s most populated areas indicates water deficits near Montreal, Ottawa, and Winnipeg; and surpluses in Calgary and Edmonton. Widespread deficits are forecast in the eastern half of the country. Surpluses will downgrade in southeastern British Columbia.

Canada: Exceptional water deficits cover much of Quebec

The forecast through March 2020 for Canada’s most populated areas indicates nearly normal water conditions for Québec City, Montreal, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver; moderate deficits west of Ottawa and around Regina; and severe surpluses west of Toronto. Nationwide, anomalies will be similar to those observed in the prior three months including widespread, exceptional deficits in central and northern Quebec.

Canada: Water surplus to persist from Lake Huron to Toronto

The forecast through September indicates that moderate water surpluses will persist from Lake Huron to Toronto but surpluses in southern Quebec, including the Gatineau River Watershed and Montreal, will nearly disappear. Moderate to extreme deficits will persist in southern Manitoba. Exceptional deficits are expected in southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and surpluses in the southern Columbia Mountains.
